(The following is captured from the original Friends of Little Beach Website) [ ] = Edit
[This is the last website update of the original Friends of Little Beach. From here on, the news was “all is well.” The last real threat was back in 2001 and the organization was dissolved in 2015. It was inconceivable that anyone would want to change the perfect harmony and aloha of Little Beach.]
In the News - Message from Dave 8/7/12.
Last week the Maui Weekly ran an article about Little Beach. [Colorful article - recommended]
While the article seems alarming, there has been no recent activity about LB. The reporter probably spoke to the same DLNR Enforcement Officer who, about a year ago, imposed the strict, one-day parking ban on all areas other than paved, striped spaces in the lot.
While many/most of us would like to see the drug dealing and excessive, underage drinking curtailed at the beach, we do not want the 99% who use, enjoy and treat the beach and users with respect, to be punished just to stop the unacceptable activities of the 1%.
Little Beach is a cash cow for Maui and I'm sure that that fact will play strongly in any actions take to reduce drug/alcohol problems in the Park.
Contrary to what the article says, the Park hours are 5 AM to 7:45 PM and the gates open at 7 AM and close at 7:45 PM.
