I have been enjoying Little Beach in the nude for over thirty years. I'm an attorney who has defended many beachgoers who have been targeted by the wrongheaded prosecution of naturists enjoying the clothing optional Little Beach. I like to surf when the waves are right and to bodysurf when they aren't. I will continue to fight for Little Beach until the DLNR gives up its foolish anti-nudity campaigns and leaves us alone.

I visited Maui 15 years ago and fell in love with Little Beach. At the time I was mayor of Black's Beach, a nude beach in San Diego. In the ten years I held that volunteer position I wrote a monthly newspaper and maintained a website that still exists today, blacksbeach.org. We hosted Sunday picnics all summer, and maintained the rustic trail in the winter.
It took years of planning, but I finally moved to Maui in 2012 for a better beach, Little Beach. I enjoy free diving and scuba diving. You probably notice me with my long fins or scuba gear. We must find a way to convince the State Park system that we deserve to exist and we are a positive influence on the community. For one thing, I volunteer in two related conservation efforts, Dawn Patrol and turtle rescue. When I called for a turtle rescue at Little Beach, none of the other volunteers asked me to put my pants on. LLOYD jOHNSON |

I have been following the whales between my two states of Alaska and Hawaii all my life. Walking into Little Beach since 1970 where I became a devoted Naturist and Naturalist. On Pu’u Ola’i, I throw my intent to Pele, asking for help to find my way home on the slopes of Haleakala. Fifty years later, my farm and the house I built overlooks Makena from Ulupalakua. Semi-retired from the building trades, I manage my Alaskan properties, am involved in various volunteer projects, and farm seasonally opposing crops of artichokes in both states. My children, grandchildren and community applaud my life goals of top free equality, breaking down barriers, and not turning away from injustices. After a lifetime of experiencing gender discrimination, the freedom of relaxing on Little Beach is always not far from my mind. In the year 2021 I am feeling defiled and enraged to be told to cover up my obscene breasts and follow the State Park administrative rules of bigotry and intolerance.

I have been at one with nature for over 50 years. I have bathed and sunbathed nude on dozens of beaches in Europe and dozens of beaches on the USA West Coast (along with family) and never encountered an issue with law enforcement. I first visited Makena Little Beach in 1987, vacationed often and relocated to Maui in 2008 - because back then the State Parks had an intelligent attitude to nudity. Back then they also had an intelligent attitude to folks drumming, dancing and enjoying the sunsets. Now they have a management problem but it can be rectified. I am a licensed electrical engineer (PE), amateur philosopher, and textile-free bodysurfer. I have 4 kids and 9 grandkids, all smarter than I was at their age.

THE "FRIENDS" MISSION
We will preserve naturists “inalienable right” to “the pursuit of happiness” in accordance with the Hawaii constitution, and promote designated clothing optional beach locations and female topfree equality.
We will overcome prudish bureaucratic government discrimination against the naturist cultural practice, disrupting 33 years of harassment-free harmony and aloha.
We will demonstrate kindness and acceptance to all that visit, nude, topfree and textile - with appreciation and reverence for nature and environment.
We will make our collective voice heard as the primary stakeholder on beaches where nude bathing and sunbathing is traditionally practiced.
